About Helen


Helen Pelton is devoted to the exploration of human perception and expression through dance/movement studies, the healing arts, meditation, comparative religion and cross-cultural studies.

Helen has been engaged in somatic education for over 40 years. She has taught the human sciences, dance and creative process in universities, professional massage programs, international festivals and regional communities.

Helen was certified in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education in 2010 and received her therapeutic massage license in 1995. She was a member of the Erick Hawkins Dance Company (NYC) in the early 1980s and toured the US and Europe as a solo dance performance artist until 1995. Durning this time she taught dance technique, movement improvisation forms and Contemplative Dance Practice*. In 1989 she was awarded the Halla Kealiinohomoku Research Residency by Cross-Cultural Dance Resources in Flagstaff, AZ. During this period she immersed herself in the observation & study of Hopi & Yaqui dance traditions. This began an on-going involvement in comparative religion and cultural studies that continues to this day.
